Write For Us

Contribute your voice and insights and get featured in our publication.

We're looking for bold, thoughtful, and well-articulated opinion pieces that provide fresh perspectives. We are looking to rebuild the missing middle in Canadian discourse. If you've got something to say and can say it with clarity, courage, and nuance, we want to hear from you.

Who Should Submit

  • Canadian writers of all backgrounds, especially emerging voices
  • Thinkers, professionals, students, and storytellers with a unique perspective
  • Writers who care more about ideas than ideology

What We Publish

  • Opinion essays that challenge assumptions and invite reflection
  • Personal reflections with broader social or cultural relevance
  • Policy arguments that are accessible and grounded in lived experience
  • Cultural commentary that connects the dots between trends, media, and meaning

Length

500–900 words (aim for around 700)

Tone & Style

Conversational but intelligent. Confident but not combative. Clear, compelling, and jargon-free.

Formatting

  • Submit as a shared Word or Google Doc so we can edit collaboratively
  • Include a short bio (1–2 sentences), your city, and province
  • Title your piece clearly — subheadings are welcome

Compensation

We're not offering payment during the launch phase, but we're working toward it. Contributors will be featured prominently and promoted across our channels.

AI Usage Policy

At accordingto.ca, we value authentic voices and original perspectives. To preserve the integrity of our platform, we ask all contributors to follow this simple policy:

Your ideas and your writing must be your own. AI tools must not generate your drafts, arguments, paragraphs, or full sentences. We publish human opinions, not machine-written ones.

Limited acceptable uses of AI:

  • Grammar and sentence-structure cleanup
  • Spell-checking
  • Clarity suggestions that you personally edit and approve

What's not allowed:

  • Letting AI write or rewrite your piece
  • Using AI to generate arguments, takes, or analysis
  • Submitting content that is substantially machine-written

Why this matters: Our readers expect original thought — and some of them even run AI-detection tools to make sure our work is authentic. We think that's pretty cool, and we want to make sure what we publish reflects real voices and honest perspectives.

In short: AI can help you polish, but it cannot do the writing for you. (Ironically, this policy was written using AI.)
